What you get for one product line

Four fields come back, and each marketplace calls them something different — so the generator calls them what the marketplace calls them, and the CSV you export uses those names too.

The title. One line, front-loaded with the phrase a buyer would actually type, and inside that platform’s hard cap. Etsy calls it the Title, Shopify the Product title, Walmart the Product name. Depop has no title field at all: its listing flow goes photos → description → structured fields, so what we write as the “first line” is the first line of your description, and it has to carry the search words on its own.

The tags. Etsy takes 13 of them; eBay calls them search keywords and takes 12; Amazon Handmade calls them search terms and takes 7; Walmart takes 10; Shopify takes 20 for storefront search and automated collections; Depop takes 5 hashtags. They are written as multi-word phrases, not single words, because a one-word tag competes with everything.

The materials or key features. Etsy Materials, eBay Item specifics, Amazon Key features, Shopify Highlights, Depop Details. Different field, different length, same job: the concrete facts a buyer filters on.

The description. Written so the opening sentences carry the keyword — those first characters are what the platform indexes hardest and what a shopper reads before tapping “more” — then the benefits, the specifics and the care notes underneath.

And, on Amazon Handmade, one field most tools do not know exists. Since Amazon cut titles to 75 characters in July 2026 it has kept a second searchable headline, Item highlights, worth another 125 characters. Amazon indexes both with the same weight and shows the highlights only while the title stays under the cap. The generator fills it. A tool still writing 200-character Amazon titles is writing into a field that no longer exists.

Written to each marketplace's limits

Every number in this table is the number the generator enforces — the same registry the prompt, the character counters, the validator, the scorer and the CSV export all read. When a platform moves a limit we change it there, and every one of those layers moves with it.

Two of these rows need a sentence of their own, because rounding them into the table would make them a lie.

Etsy’s cap is 140 characters and we aim at about 80. Etsy’s own updated guidance asks for short, natural titles — “consider using less than 15 words”. Etsy says nothing about how search treats titles written to the older long-title advice, in either direction, and neither do we: aiming short is our choice, not a penalty we are protecting you from.

Depop publishes no character count at all. Not for a description, not for a first line, not for where its app clips text — we checked its help pages on 2 and again on 4 September 2026. Its terms mention a “Depop character limit” without ever printing a number, so a cap plausibly exists and we do not know it. The 120 characters we write to are roughly one phone-width line. Both are ours, and other tools quoting them as Depop’s rules are quoting each other.

The Checked column is the point of the block. It is the date each platform’s own documents were last read, not the date this page was built.

Scored before you see it

Every generation comes back with a number from 0 to 100, and the number is computed by a rule, not by a model: the same listing always scores the same, and each of the five parts can be explained in a sentence. You see the score and the title for free, before you decide whether to unlock anything.

Here is the same product written twice. On the left, the kind of listing most shops put up. On the right, a real generation from 2026-09-20 — a service run, not a customer’s, and shown here as an example.

Read the tags row. 3 one-word tags out of 13 slots score 3 points out of 30 — not because the words are bad, but because 10 slots are empty and single words compete with everything. That one row is most of the gap.

This is not a one-off. We re-scored 127 customer generations from 2026-07-10 to 2026-09-03 with the current scorer: 94% came back at 95 or above. That is a statement about our own 0–100 score and nothing else. We cannot see your sales, your views, or where you rank on any marketplace, and no number on this page claims otherwise.

The whole method — every weight, every threshold, every blind spot — is published, including the parts that make us look worse.

How to use it

  1. Pick the marketplace. The switcher changes more than a logo: the field names, the character limits, the counters and the export filename all change with it. One product, 6 marketplaces, 6 different listings.
  2. Describe the product in one line. “Enamel camping mug with skull print” is enough. Category, attributes, who it is for and the one thing that makes it better are optional — fill them in and they are used; leave them and the generator works from the line.
  3. Or start from the photo. Upload a product photo and the fields fill themselves from what is in the picture.
  4. Read the title and the score first. Both are free, and they are the honest test: if the title is not one you would put up yourself, change the line and run it again.
  5. Unlock when the title convinces you. The tags, the materials and the full description open together, and the whole listing exports as a CSV named for that marketplace.
  6. Doing more than one? The same page has a bulk mode: up to 10 products in one pass, imported from a CSV or typed in, unlocked and exported as a single file.

What it does not do

It does not post to your shop. Nothing here touches your marketplace account. You copy the fields across, or export the CSV and import it. We ask for no password and no shop connection, and there is nothing for us to break on your storefront.

It cannot see your sales, your views or your rank. No tool outside your own seller dashboard can. We measure one thing — our own 0–100 score for the text of a listing — and everything on this page is about that number.

It cannot read another seller’s tags. Most marketplaces keep a seller’s tags private. Anything that claims to show you a competitor’s exact tags is guessing from their title. When we grade a listing from its public URL we grade the title and the description only, and say so.

It does not promise a limit Depop has not published. See the table above. Where a platform prints a number we enforce it; where it does not, we say the number is ours.

It is not a keyword research tool. It writes the listing. Demand signals — how a phrase ranks in autocomplete, how many listings compete for it — are a separate, free tool, and the two are deliberately not the same page.

It does not write in a voice it cannot check. The listing comes back in the language you pick, but the character limits and the scorer are what we guarantee — not that a native speaker would have phrased it the way you would.

Questions

Is the description generator free?

The title and the 0–100 score are free on every generation, and you can run up to 15 of them per browser before we ask for a free account. Unlocking the tags, the materials and the full description costs one credit. Plans start at $15 a month for 25 listings.

Which marketplaces does it write for?

Etsy, Amazon Handmade, eBay, Shopify, Depop and Walmart — and none of them is another one with a different logo on it. Each has its own field names, its own character limits, its own title rules and its own export file, and the switcher changes all of them. Sellura is not affiliated with Etsy.

Will Etsy or Amazon penalise an AI-written listing?

Neither publishes a rule against it, and we are not going to invent one in either direction. What they do publish are the limits: 140 characters on an Etsy title, 75 on Amazon plus 125 of Item highlights, 80 on eBay. Those are what the generator writes to, and a listing that breaks them is rejected or silently rewritten whoever typed it.

Can I edit what comes back?

Yes, and you should. Every field is editable before you export, the character counter for that marketplace is live while you type, and the score updates with your edits. Nothing is locked to what the generator wrote.

Do you post it to my shop?

No. Nothing here connects to your marketplace account. You copy the fields across or export a CSV and import it yourself.

Can you grade a listing I already have?

Yes — paste its public URL into the free Listing Checker and it scores the title and the description out of 100 and names the three problems worth fixing first. It works on Etsy, Amazon Handmade, eBay, Depop and Walmart listings.
