Depop shipping for sellers: who pays, what it costs, what you keep
By Oleksandr Shaniuk · founder of Sellura · Updated October 3, 2026
On Depop the buyer pays for shipping unless you choose otherwise. You pick Depop Shipping and a parcel size when you list, the buyer pays that shipping price at checkout, and Depop emails you a prepaid label: USPS in the US, Evri in the UK. Your payout is the item plus the shipping, minus the label and Depop's payment processing fee, and that fee is charged on the shipping too: 3.3% + $0.45 in the US, 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK (Depop's fee table, read 3 October 2026).
- Processing fee on item + shipping (US)
- 3.3% + $0.45
- UK: 2.9% + £0.30, also on shipping
- Payout on $40 + $6 shipping (worked example)
- $38.03
- with free shipping instead: $32.23
- Days to ship and keep Depop Protection
- 5
- US orders still unshipped cancel at day 10
- Boosting fee, UK/US listings from 23 Mar 2026
- 12%
- of the item price if you use a Depop label
On a $40 item with $6 of buyer-paid shipping, that leaves you $38.03. Offer free shipping instead and the $6 label comes out of your side: $32.23, or $5.80 less. US and UK sellers pay no Depop selling fee, so processing, the label and an optional boosting fee are the whole bill. Below: what each setting does to that number, the deadlines that keep a lost parcel covered, and when the money lands.
Who pays for shipping on Depop?
The buyer, by default. Depop's Terms of Service say buyers pay an additional amount on top of the item price for shipping, and Depop describes its label as paid for by the buyer, which is why it calls Depop Shipping free for sellers.
It moves to you only if you move it: a shipping discount ($2, $3 or $4 off, or free, for US sellers on the iOS app), a zero shipping price when you ship your own way, or a free-shipping bundle offer.
| Setting | Buyer pays | You pay | Fee charged on |

| Depop Shipping | Buyer paysThe shipping price | You payNothing for the label | Fee charged onItem + shipping + tax |
| Depop Shipping, $2–$4 off (US, iOS) | Buyer paysShipping minus your discount | You payThe discount | Fee charged onItem + discounted shipping + tax |

How Depop shipping works for sellers, step by step
One US sale on Depop Shipping, from listing to payout. The UK works the same way with Evri in place of USPS, and the differences are further down.
List with Depop Shipping and the right parcel size
Depop calculates the shipping price from the parcel size you pick, so pick it honestly.
The buyer pays your price plus shipping
Depop adds its buyer Marketplace fee and any tax at checkout, and neither comes out of your payout. An accepted offer covers the item only: the buyer still pays the shipping you set.
Depop emails you the label
A QR code to show at a USPS drop-off, plus a printable label. It is also with your sold items in the app, and in your selling hub on the web.
Pack it and drop it off
Depop Shipping is fully tracked, so there is no tracking to add and nothing to mark as shipped. Use that label only: shipping the order any other way loses Depop Protection and can get it cancelled.
Ship before the clocks run out
Shipping within 5 days keeps the sale eligible for Depop Protection. A US order still unshipped 10 days after purchase is cancelled and refunded automatically.
Get paid
The sale total, minus the fee and the label, reaches your Depop Balance 2 business days after delivery or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first. Withdrawals take up to 5 days to reach your bank.

How much Depop shipping costs, and who sets the price
Depop's help centre has no price list for its labels. Its US shipping policy says the parcel size you pick automatically calculates the shipping cost, and its Terms say Depop's shipping rates may change. The reliable price is the one your listing shows when you pick a size. A Depop price table found elsewhere is someone else's snapshot.
Ship your own way and you set the price and buy the postage. Either way, these rules decide what a parcel ends up costing, and who pays it:
- Overweight is on you: under Depop's Terms, carrier charges for a parcel heavier than its label are yours to reimburse.
- A bundle ships on one label sized to the combined weight: two small-parcel items go out on a medium label, in Depop's example.
- A free-shipping bundle charges you the whole label, which may be upgraded to fit everything.
- UK Evri labels are for parcels within the UK mainland, up to 120 cm long and 15 kg.
- At checkout the buyer also pays Depop's Marketplace fee, up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1 or £1, and any tax.

The fee most sellers miss: Depop charges it on the shipping too
Depop's fee table is explicit: the payment processing fee is charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes. So buyer-paid shipping is not a pass-through. It runs through your sale, picks up 3.3% in the US (2.9% in the UK), and then the label is deducted. On $6 of shipping that is 20 cents an order, and it is why “free for sellers” describes the label, not the money around it.
The calculator runs one sale both ways: buyer-paid shipping, and free shipping on a label you pay for. It starts from a $40 item and a $6 label. Swap in your own numbers.

Depop's payment processing 3.3% + $0.45 on item + shipping (rates checked 2026-10-03, Depop “Seller fees and charges”). The label cost is yours to type: on a Depop label it follows the parcel size you pick, on your own label it is your carrier's price. “Sale total” is item plus the shipping you charge; Depop adds its buyer Marketplace fee and any tax at checkout, and neither comes out of your payout.

Our calculation from Depop's published rates, read 3 October 2026, before sales tax and boosting. Sale total is item plus the shipping you charge, and the buyer's Marketplace fee and tax come on top. On a taxed US order the fee also applies to the tax, 3.3 cents per $1. The $6 label is an example.

Should you offer free shipping on Depop?
Priced in, free shipping costs you nothing on an unboosted sale. At $46 with free shipping the fee is charged on $46 either way, so you keep $38.03, the same to the cent as $40 plus $6 shipping. The calculator above lands on $46.00 too. Boosting and offers are what separate the two.
Depop's boosting fee is 12% for UK and US sellers on new listings from 23 March 2026 (8% elsewhere), due only when a buyer who interacted with the boosted listing buys within 28 days. It is charged on the item price, and on shipping only when you don't use a Depop label. So on a Depop label, $40 plus $6 shipping pays $4.80 in boosting fees and $46 with free shipping pays $5.52.
- Boosted, on a Depop label: separate shipping stays out of the 12%, worth $0.72 on a $6 label.
- Shipping your own way, the boost covers shipping either way, so the gap disappears.
- Offers apply to the item only, so separate shipping is paid on top, while priced-in shipping gets haggled down with the price.
- Priced-in shipping also raises the buyer's Marketplace fee, charged on the item price but not on shipping: up to 30 cents more here.

How long you have to ship on Depop
Ship as soon as you can. Depop notes that most sellers ship within 2 days. Beyond that there are several clocks, and they don't all do the same thing.
The one that costs money is Depop Protection. Ship on the Depop label within 5 days and, if the parcel is lost or damaged, Depop refunds the buyer from your balance and compensates you, on sales up to $300 in the US or £250 in the UK. Depop says Protection is not insurance, a warranty or a guarantee. Going away? Vacation Mode pauses new purchases for 7 days, but orders already sold still have to go out.

Selling from the UK: what's different
Same steps, with a different carrier, fee and payout clock. Depop Shipping in the UK runs on Evri: a QR code for an Evri drop-off point, and tracking that updates itself. Depop's UK shipping policy covers the UK mainland, which excludes Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and some Highland and island postcodes.
The payout clock is the difference UK sellers feel. On Depop Shipping you're paid 2 business days after delivery or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first. Ship your own way and payment comes 10 business days after delivery, so a parcel delivered on a Monday is paid two weeks later, not that Wednesday.

International shipping on Depop
Worldwide shipping is off by default and set per listing: edit the listing, open Worldwide and toggle it on. Depop's worldwide guide leaves the rest to you: a tracked service, the tracking added in the app, and a price estimated from size and weight, since you don't know the destination when you list.
The US has removed its $800 de minimis exemption, so more parcels into the US owe tariffs. Depop doesn't collect them at checkout: you prepay them through your carrier or leave them to the buyer, and a refused parcel ends in a refund. For EU buyers on items worth €150 or less and UK buyers under £135, Depop collects the VAT and puts its tax number on your sale receipt: give it to your carrier for the EU, write it on the parcel for the UK.
- Settle US tariffs before the sale: adding them later means refunding and asking the buyer to buy again at the higher price.
- Put your own phone number and email on customs forms, not the buyer's.

Put the shipping details in the listing
Depop's own description checklist ends with shipping: after a title-like first line, measurements and condition, add shipping info and any bundle options. Weight sets the parcel size and the size sets the price, so tell buyers what justifies it: how heavy or bulky the item is and whether you do bundle shipping. Each answer in the listing is a message you don't have to send while the 5-day clock runs.

What Sellura does here, and what it doesn't
Sellura doesn't buy labels, manage shipping, track parcels or touch your payout. All of that stays in Depop. It writes the listing the parcel goes out with. Describe the product, choose Depop, and it returns a first line, a description and five hashtags with a 0–100 score that is deterministic: the same listing always gets the same number, every point traces to a named factor, and each weak factor comes with one concrete fix.
The score and the first-line preview are free on every generation (15 before we ask you to make an account, and never a card), as are the Depop fee calculator and the hashtag generator, and the Listing Grader is free to try. A credit unlocks one finished listing: Starter is $15 a month for 25 credits or $150 a year, and Pro is $24 a month for 65 credits plus bulk, or $240 a year. The same product can also be written for Etsy, eBay, Amazon Handmade, Shopify and Walmart. Sellura has no research database, no rank tracking and no ads analysis, and it is not affiliated with Depop.
FAQ
Does Depop pay for shipping?
Not on an ordinary sale. The buyer pays for the label through the shipping price at checkout, or you do if you offer free or discounted shipping. The exception is Depop's own buyer promotions, such as free shipping on a new US user's first order of a Depop Shipping item. Those are Depop's offers, not a setting on your listing.
Who pays for shipping on Depop, the buyer or the seller?
The buyer, by default: Depop's Terms say buyers pay for shipping on top of the item price. You pay only if you choose to, with free shipping, a $2, $3 or $4 shipping discount (US sellers on the iOS app), a zero price on your own shipping, or a free-shipping bundle offer.
How much is shipping on Depop?
It depends on the parcel size. Depop calculates the price from the size you pick when you list and publishes no price table in its help centre, and its Terms say the rates may change. On your own shipping, you set the price. Buyers also pay Depop's Marketplace fee and any tax at checkout.
How does Depop shipping work for sellers?
Choose Depop Shipping and a parcel size when you list. When the item sells, Depop emails a QR code and a printable label. Drop the parcel at USPS in the US or an Evri point in the UK, and tracking updates itself. The sale total, minus the fee and the label, reaches your Depop Balance 2 business days after delivery or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first.
How long do I have to ship on Depop?
Ship within 5 days to keep Depop Protection. After 5 days the buyer can raise an issue, and you then have 48 hours to show proof of shipping or refund. In the US, an order still unshipped 10 days after purchase is cancelled and refunded. Depop publishes no such day for the UK.
Does Depop take a fee on shipping?
Yes. The payment processing fee, 3.3% + $0.45 in the US and 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK, is charged on the item price plus shipping plus any tax. There is no selling fee for UK, US or Australian sellers, and the boosting fee leaves the shipping out when you use a Depop label.
Why is Depop shipping so expensive?
Often it isn't only the shipping. A parcel size bigger than the item needs raises the label price, and at checkout Depop adds its Marketplace fee (up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1 or £1) and any tax. Check the parcel size first, then consider a shipping discount or a bundle offer.
Check two settings on every Depop listing: Depop Shipping on the smallest parcel size the item honestly fits, and shipping charged separately unless free shipping is a discount you mean to give. Unboosted, $40 + $6 shipping and $46 with free shipping both pay out $38.03. Boosted on a Depop label, separate shipping stays out of the 12%, and no offer can cut into it. Ship inside 5 days, every time. Then check your own numbers in the payout calculator, and let Sellura write the listing the parcel goes out with: the score and preview are free, a credit buys the finished listing.
