Depop vs Poshmark: which one should you sell your clothes on?

Depop leaves you more money at every price, and Poshmark settles more of the sale for you. Pick Depop for pieces under $15 and for buyers outside the US and Canada. Pick Poshmark if you sell in the US or Canada and want one flat shipping price the buyer pays, offers that close the sale the moment you accept, or a place for electronics, which Depop's prohibited-items list mostly bans. On fees, Depop charges US and UK sellers no selling fee, only payment processing of 3.3% + $0.45 on a US sale. At $10 the gap is starker, because Poshmark's flat fee is 29.5% of the sale. What one sale costs on each

Depop's fee is payment processing: 3.3% + $0.45 on a US sale, with no selling fee for US, UK and Australian sellers. Poshmark's is a commission: a flat $2.95 on sales under $15, then 20%. The calculator starts at a $40 item with $12 of materials. Change the price and watch the gap move.

Shipping is set to $0 because the two charge it differently. Poshmark's buyer pays $6.49 for the prepaid label, and the commission is on the item alone: Poshmark's own example takes $20 from a $100 item. Depop's processing fee is charged on the item plus shipping and tax, so $6 of buyer-paid shipping adds about 20 cents.

The spread between the cheapest and the dearest row on this sale is $6.23. That is the fee difference and nothing else: it does not say the item will sell on any of them.

Depop charges UK and US buyers a Marketplace fee at checkout, up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1. It never touches your payout, but it raises the price they see. Poshmark's current Fee Policy names no buyer fee.

Shipping: who pays, and how the labels work

On both, the buyer pays for shipping by default. Poshmark makes it one flat price: $6.49 by USPS Ground Advantage for any order, bundles included, on one prepaid label or QR code that covers up to 5 lb with the packaging. You must ship on Poshmark's label. Above 5 lb you buy the upgrade, and 15 lb is the most an order can weigh.

Depop leaves the choice to you. With Depop Shipping, Depop emails you a prepaid USPS label and the buyer pays the shipping price on your listing. Or you ship your own way, set the price and add tracking. Either way the processing fee is charged on the shipping too, which the Depop shipping guide works through.

Who shops where, in each marketplace's own words

Depop describes itself as a peer-to-peer marketplace for secondhand fashion, from everyday essentials to vintage and designer finds, and counts about 56.3 million registered users and over 68 million items for sale (its newsroom, read 3 October 2026). Sellers outside the UK, US and Australia can sell too, at a 10% selling fee, and worldwide shipping is a switch on each listing, though Depop's search mainly shows shoppers listings from their own country.

Poshmark is narrower in reach. Its help centre says it is only available in the United States and Canada, with no cross-border shipping, and describes a marketplace for fashion and accessories plus new personal care products and select home goods, pet items and electronics. Depop's prohibited-items list, by contrast, bans most electronics, from phones and headphones to consoles. The Poshmark pages we read give no user count, so we don't compare the two by size.

Listings and search: a first line and hashtags, or a title field

Depop has no title field. Its help says to start the description with a title, the words you would search for as a buyer, then add measurements, condition and shipping, with up to five hashtags. Depop adds tags and keywords of its own, and its search matches a shopper's words against the description, brand, category and color. Its listing help names no character limit.

Poshmark asks for six things before a listing goes live: title, description, category, size, original price and listing price. Its help caps the title at 80 characters and suggests brand, style name, category, size and color, with condition, measurements and fabric in the description. It recommends standard sizes so a listing appears when shoppers filter by My Size.

Offers, bundles and paid promotion

Both take offers. The difference is when the deal is done. On Poshmark an accepted offer is a completed sale, paid at once, and an offer nobody answers expires after 24 hours. On Depop you have 14 days to answer, the buyer then has 14 days to pay, and until they do anyone can still buy the item at full price.

Bundles differ too. Poshmark's buyer pays one $6.49 shipping fee for a bundle of up to 5 lb, and you can send a private bundle offer with a shipping discount. On Depop you set a bundle discount or free shipping for anyone buying two or more items, and each item counts as its own sale and review.

Selling on both at once

Nothing in the pages we read from either marketplace stops you listing the same item on both. The listing is what has to change: Depop has no title field and Poshmark requires one, so write each for its own form. Price each for its own fee too: to keep $40, list at $41.83 on Depop and $50.00 on Poshmark (our calculation, US, no boost, before shipping).

When a one-off piece sells on one, take it down on the other at once: a Poshmark offer you accept is already a sale, and a Depop buyer can check out at full price at any moment. Is Depop or Poshmark better for vintage?

Both take vintage clothing, and we have no sales figures by category for either, so decide on fees and buyers. Depop names vintage in its own description, costs less at every price and can ship worldwide. Can I sell on Poshmark from the UK?
