“Search-first” follows the order eBay recommends for a title (eBay Global Selling, “How to optimize your listings”, read 3 October 2026). “Buyer-readable”, “Max detail” and “My order” are ours. Parts past 80 characters are struck through, never dropped silently.

An eBay title has 80 characters, and eBay recommends spending them in this order: "NEW" where it applies, the brand, the product name, the model number, then size and colour, then one more word buyers use. The builder above takes those words from eBay's own fields: the category eBay suggests for your item and the item specifics eBay asks for there, so your title and your item specifics say the same thing.

You get three versions: search-first, in eBay's order, and two of ours, buyer-readable and max detail, labelled as ours. Anything that doesn't fit in 80 is shown struck through, never dropped without telling you. We read eBay's advice on its own pages on 3 October 2026.
The order eBay recommends for a title
eBay's Global Selling guide gives the structure in one line: "NEW" [brand] [product name] [model No] [Variants — size, color] [additional keyword]. The same page asks you to avoid whole words in capitals and asterisks between words, so the builder writes the condition word as "New", and only for a new item.
Three titles in that order, written for this page:

The order is eBay's (Global Selling, read 3 October 2026); the three items are our examples, with each title's character count in brackets.

Required vs recommended item specifics
eBay sorts a category's item specifics into required, recommended and the rest. You'll need to fill in all required ones for any new or revised listing; recommended ones, eBay says, come from buyer demand data and popular searches, and eBay periodically makes new ones required based on buyers' search trends.
Fill both with true values even when the word is already in your title. Buyers use item specifics to filter their results, and your item only appears in a filtered search if you've added the matching specific. The builder lists the required ones first and marks each.

What eBay asks you to keep out of a title
eBay's search manipulation policy asks for every word in a listing to be accurate and about the item for sale. The builder checks a title against the parts of that, and of eBay's optimising guide, that a title can break:
- No whole words in capitals, and no asterisks or other markers between words.
- No keywords with question marks, and no comparisons with other products.
- "Fits", "for" or "compatible with" only before the item yours works with, never before a clothing, jewellery or accessories brand.
- No brand name on an item that brand didn't make.
- No comma-separated keyword lists.

Why 80 characters is a budget, not a target
eBay's Seller Center says you've got 80 characters, so use as many as you can, and in the same advice to leave out irrelevant words. Read together, that's a budget: spend it on true words in eBay's order and stop when they run out. Padding a title to 80 with filler adds nothing a buyer types. That reading is ours, not eBay's wording.
The builder shows the budget as a ruler: each part of the title coloured and labelled, the cap marked, and anything past it struck through rather than cut. Choosing what goes is yours to do, so the builder never does it silently.

From title to full listing
The builder writes the title. Sellura's generator writes the rest of the eBay listing from one product description: a title inside 80 characters, item specifics for the category and a description, with versions for Etsy, Amazon Handmade, Shopify, Depop and Walmart.
What it doesn't do: it doesn't list on eBay for you, doesn't track rankings and has no search-volume data. Before you write, find the words buyers type for the product.

The short version
Monday morning: type what you're selling, take the category eBay suggests, fill every item specific it asks for with the true value, and copy the search-first title, which follows eBay's own order. Keep the specifics in the listing too: they feed the filters. Then let Sellura write the rest of the listing from the same product: the score and title preview are free, and a credit unlocks the full listing.
